Basketball Recap: KIPP P Snaps Nine-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

KIPP P won the last time they faced Southeast Halifax and things went their way on Saturday too. The KIPP P Pride came out on top against the Southeast Halifax Trojans by a score of 67-58. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Pride as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

KIPP P's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Shakim Manley, who went 7 of 13 on his way to 17 points along with five rebounds and three blocks. Another player making a difference was Derrick Shearin, who went 7 for 11 en route to 16 points and three steals.

KIPP P was working as a unit and finished the game with 19 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Despite the loss, Southeast Halifax saw an underclassman step up: sophomore O'Tavion Arrington went 8 of 14 on his way to 22 points and seven boards. Raquan Scott was another key player, putting up 12 points.

KIPP P's victory ended a nine-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-10. As for Southeast Halifax, they are on a 12-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-16.

KIPP P wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 57-52 defeat against Wilson Prep on the 4th. As for Southeast Halifax, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 55-48 win against North Edgecombe on the 4th.
