Baseball Game Preview: Corydon Central Panthers vs. Heritage Hills Patriots

The Corydon Central Panthers will venture away from home to face off against the Heritage Hills Patriots at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Corydon Central is coming into the game on a six-game losing streak.

It was a proper cat-fight when Corydon Central took on Salem on Thursday. The Panthers fell 9-5 to the Lions.

Meanwhile, Heritage Hills has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging 3.91 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out Princeton 11-10. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Patriots have posted against the Tigers since May 18, 2017.

The team relied heavily on Peyton Gray, who fired off two home runs, five RBI, and three runs while going 2-for-2. Those two home runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Colten Hopf, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with two runs.

They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Heritage Hills lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Heritage Hills has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-5 record this season. As for Corydon Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-9.

Corydon Central came out on top in a nail-biter against Heritage Hills in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, sneaking past 5-4. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Panthers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
