Baseball Recap: Madison West Takes a Loss

Madison West was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss dating back to last season. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Janesville Craig Cougars. The Regents were not able to make up for their defeat to the Cougars from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

Madison West got a good showing from Max Zuehlke, who struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits.

At the plate, Seb Pietz was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

Madison West's loss dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Janesville Craig, they pushed their record up to 3-0 with the win, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season.

While Madison West had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
