Preview: Clark Cougars vs. Reagan Rattlers
Clark and Reagan are an even 5-5 against one another since November of 2017, but not for long. The Clark Cougars will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against the Reagan Rattlers at 7:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Clark posted their biggest win since November 18, 2023 on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Brandeis as Clark made off with a 58-38 win.
Clark got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Aiden Bolden out in front who scored 15 points along with two steals. Bolden has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Jaden Jones, who scored 12 points.
Meanwhile, Reagan waltzed into their game on Friday with three straight wins but they left with four. They walked away with a 66-58 victory over Brandeis.
Aidan Richard was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 31 points and ten rebounds. He is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last seven games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Luke Garrison, who scored 12 points.
Clark's win bumped their record up to 14-10. As for Reagan, their victory was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 15-10.
This contest is shaping up to be a blowout: Clark hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having only averaged 52.6 points per game. It's a different story for Reagan, though, as they've been averaging only 53.2 points per game. The only thing between Clark and another offensive beatdown is Reagan. Will they be able to keep them contained?
Clark didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Reagan in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, but they still walked away with a 64-60 victory. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Reagan's Kenneth Manuel, who scored 24 points along with four steals. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Clark still be able to contain him? There's only one way to find out.
