Football Recap: Teaneck Highwaymen vs. Passaic Indians
Teaneck lost against Passaic back in September of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Highwaymen fell just short of the Indians by a score of 32-30. The close contest was extra heartbreaking for the Highwaymen, who almost overcame a 23 point deficit.
Despite the loss, Teaneck still got an impressive performance from Jayden Castro, who rushed for 29 yards and two scores. Castro also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, making seven total tackles and defending one pass. Speaking of playmakers, who could forget Jonah Flournoy, who went all the way with a kickoff return for a touchdown.
Passaic's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Edwin Hidalgo led the charge by rushing for 163 yards while picking up 9.1 yards per carry. Those 163 rushing yards gave Hidalgo a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jamari Miller, who rushed for 28 yards and a pair of TDs.
Teaneck now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Passaic, their record is now an identical 2-3.
Teaneck will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on River Dell at 6:00 p.m. on October 10. As for Passaic, they will head out to challenge Eastside at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
