Recap: Cornerstone Academy Cougars vs. Ocala Christian Crusaders
The Cornerstone Academy Cougars lost against the Ocala Christian Crusaders back in December of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Cornerstone Academy's tough 60-36 loss to Ocala Christian might stick with them for a while. Cornerstone Academy has not had much luck with Ocala Christian recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.
Cornerstone Academy lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Raphael Valerio, who scored 12 points. Valerio continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Josiah Espy, who scored ten points.
Conrad Bloom was the offensive standout of the game as he scored 22 points along with two steals. That's the first time this season that he scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Amari Gordon, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 12 rebounds.
Cornerstone Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Ocala Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 5-10.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cornerstone Academy will take on HEART HomeSchool at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. HEART HomeSchool is coming into the contest hot, having won their last three games. Ocala Christian won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Bronson at 6:00 p.m. on January 12th. Bronson is coming into the match on a five-game losing streak.
