Baseball Recap: Edinburgh Triumphs

Edinburgh and Eminence pushed the score to 17-6 the last time they played Eminence, but on Tuesday defenses reigned supreme. The Lancers never let the Eels get on the board and left with a 4-0 win. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

The result came thanks to Ayden Swallows's shutout, as he gave up just three hits and racked up 18 Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Silas Cooney, who went 1-for-2 with four stolen bases and two runs. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Zyan Richardson also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Edinburgh's victory bumped their record up to 2-10. As for Eminence, they moved to 3-5 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Coming up, Edinburgh will face off against Morristown at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Lancers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Yellow Jackets have averaged an impressive 7.2 runs per game this season. As for Eminence, they will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Indianapolis Arsenal Technical at 5:30 p.m.
