League recap: Clearfield tops Tyrone to extend winning streak

Clearfield extended the longest winning streak in Mountain this week by beating Tyrone, 14-13. This was the team's seventh consecutive win.

Penns Valley Area moved up to 446 from 484 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Rams climbed the ranks as a result of topping Bellefonte 42-7.

The Raiders' dynamic duo of Jordan Fye and Nick Leiter proved tough for Penns Valley Area to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Fye threw for 317 yards and one touchdown and Leiter had 142 yards receiving. Bryan Green helped Bellefonte's passing attack out by catching seven balls for 83 yards.

Christian Lezzer was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 154 yards on 34 carries as Clearfield fell to the Rams. Teammate Tyler Stratton added to the ground attack by rushing for 53 yards.

5-foot-10 quarterback Austin Cunningham of Central is the league leader in passing yards this season with 893. He has also thrown nine touchdowns. On the ground, the Golden Eagles' James Oliver has rushed for 1339 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Trey Jordan. The Clearfield star has 21 catches for 643 yards.

A big matchup in the league this week will be when Bald Eagle Area takes on the Bison. The Bald Eagles are in third place, while Clearfield is in first place.

The Bison and Tyrone played the most hotly contested game in the league this week, with the Bison eventually emerging with a 14-13 victory. Lezzer threw for 61 yards in the win.
