Basketball Recap: Payton College Prep Comes Up Short

Payton College Prep was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss. They were dealt an 89-24 defeat at the hands of the Kenwood Broncos. While losing is never fun, the Grizzlies can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 462nd, while the Broncos are ranked eighth).

Diann Jackson was her usual excellent self, almost dropping a double-double on 31 points and nine rebounds for Kenwood. Jackson has been hot recently, having posted nine or more boards the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Danielle Brooks, who went 6 for 8 on her way to 14 points along with seven assists and four steals.

Payton College Prep's loss dropped their record down to 4-16. As for Kenwood, their win was their 15th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 21-2.

Payton College Prep will face off against Taft at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Kenwood, they will challenge Phillips at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Kenwood is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 73.3 points per game this season.
