Baseball Recap: Woodhaven Wins Going Away Against Riverview

Woodhaven never let their opponents score on Saturday. They were the clear victors by a 14-0 margin over the Riverview Pirates. Considering the Warriors have won seven games by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Evan Holt looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Tristan Spencer was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with two triples, four RBI, and one run. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jace Davis, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Woodhaven always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .562. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Riverview only posted an OBP of .118.

Woodhaven's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-3. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Riverview, they are on a 12-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-12.

Coming up, Woodhaven will venture away from home to square off against Trenton at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Warriors' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Trojans have averaged an impressive 7.6 runs per game this season. As for Riverview, they will host St. Mary Catholic Central at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Falcons/Kestrels will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something the Pirates surely won't give up without a fight.
