Basketball Game Preview: Sutherland Sailors vs. Maywood/Hayes Center Wolves

The Sutherland Sailors will head out to take on the Maywood/Hayes Center Wolves at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Sutherland is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against South Platte on Saturday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Sutherland came up short against South Platte, falling 43-22. The Sailors have struggled against the Blue Knights recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Meanwhile, Maywood/Hayes Center didn't have too much trouble with Dundy County-Stratton on Saturday as they won 44-29.

Sutherland better focus on containing Karissa Stengel and Caylie Softley as the pair were huge in Maywood/Hayes Center's win. Stengel posted 17 points along with eight boards and three steals, while Softley dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds. Softley is also crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Blayklee Farr was another key player, putting up seven points and six rebounds.

Maywood/Hayes Center smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 22 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 12 consecutive matches dating back to last season.

Sutherland's loss dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Maywood/Hayes Center, their win bumped their record up to 4-1.
