Jasmine Miles commands the offense for Bulldogs win

Recap: Freeport Bulldogs vs. Laurel Hill Hoboes

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only the Freeport Bulldogs walked away with it. They snuck past the Hoboes with a 62-56 victory on Monday. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.

Freeport got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Jasmine Miles out in front who almost dropped a double-double on 23 points and nine rebounds. Miles has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last six times she's played. Kayla Stephens was another key contributor, almost dropping a double-double on ten points and nine assists.

Despite the defeat, Laurel Hill saw an underclassman step up: Aiyana Dixon dropped a double-double on 25 points and 18 rebounds. That was a full 44.6% of Laurel Hill's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Savannah Riley, who scored ten points along with six rebounds and two steals.

Freeport is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-10 record this season. As for Laurel Hill, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-6.

Freeport will square off against Jay at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Freeport has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. Laurel Hill does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
