Basketball Game Preview: Limon Badgers vs. Peyton Panthers

Limon and Peyton are an even 4-4 against one another since January of 2015, but not for long. The Limon Badgers will head out to square off against the Peyton Panthers at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Neither Limon nor Peyton posted many points in their last games, so it might be the defenses that decide this one.

Limon is headed into the matchup out to prove that what happened against Simla on Saturday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Limon took a blow against Simla, falling 82-14. The Badgers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 47-8.

They got a good chunk of their points from the dynamic duo of Macie Witt and Kinslee Reystead, who each put up four points. Gianna Humphrey held things down on the boards with seven rebounds.

Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 61-21, which was the final score in Peyton's tilt against Salida on Tuesday. The loss was the Panthers' first of the season.

Peyton's loss ended an 11-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 2-1. As for Limon, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

Limon couldn't quite finish off Peyton in their previous meeting back in December of 2023 and fell 65-62. Thankfully for Limon, AJ Mannering (who went 13 of 27 on her way to 38 points and eight steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
