Basketball Game Preview: Clinton Comets vs. Herkimer Magicians

The Clinton Comets and the Herkimer Magicians will compete for holiday cheer at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

Clinton is headed into the matchup out to prove that what happened against Utica Academy of Science on Tuesday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Clinton might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting Utica Academy of Science an easy 61-40 win. The defeat continues a trend for the Comets in their matchups with the Atoms: they've now lost three in a row.

Meanwhile, Herkimer came into Tuesday's game having lost five straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They came out on top against Mt. Markham by a score of 75-67 on Tuesday. The Magicians' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Herkimer's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Clinton, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

Clinton was able to grind out a solid win over Herkimer in their previous matchup back in February, winning 72-65. Will Clinton repeat their success, or does Herkimer have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
