The high-flying and spectacular 6-foot-2 guard from
Gate City (Va.) broke loose for 42 points, including 13 in the fourth quarter, lifting his team to a 70-59 Class 2 State semifinal win over Graham on Tuesday night.
McClung, who has signed to Georgetown, added five rebounds. His Blue Devils (27-2) now play
Lee (Staunton, Va.) in the state finals, trying to win their first state crown. They are 0-4 in state finals, the last time losing in 2013.
According to
bdtonline.com, McClung was 15-of-27 from the field and made all nine free throws. The victory avenged a 16-point loss to Graham in the regional final two weeks ago.
"We came out soft the first time we played them," McClung told the newspaper. "We definitely wanted to have the revenge (Tuesday)."
