Basketball Recap: Nikayle Hodge Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Lake Norman Christian

There's no place like home for Westminster Catawba Christian, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They came out on top against the Lake Norman Christian Lions by a score of 66-59 on Thursday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Indians also won the last time the pair played back in November of 2014.

Westminster Catawba Christian's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Nikayle Hodge led the charge by going 7 for 9 on his way to 21 points. That's the most points Hodge has posted since back in November of 2023. Brycen Redmon was another key player, putting up 16 points along with five boards and four steals.

Westminster Catawba Christian is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-15 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.8 points over those games. As for Lake Norman Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 19-12.

Westminster Catawba Christian has already played their next game, a 71-47 victory against Hickory Grove Christian on the 7th. Lake Norman Christian will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Central Carolina Prep on February 18th. Lake Norman Christian knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past four matchups -- so hopefully Central Carolina Prep likes a good challenge.
