AA Region 7 Top Player Performances of the Week

Cruz Posts Huge Game in 26-24 Defeat

Starting off the list is Sonoraville's Jayden Cruz, who we judged to be the best player in the league this week. Cruz rushed for 137 yards and three touchdowns.

This year, Cruz has averaged 15.9 receiving yards per game. That doesn't tell the whole story though: at this point last year, he was only averaging 6.71 rushing yards per game. This year he is averaging 97.29 rushing yards.

Teddy Jarrard Turns in Season-Best Effort

North Cobb Christian was led to victory by Teddy Jarrard, who turned in his biggest game of the season on Friday. Jarrard threw for 152 yards and three touchdowns on perfect 8-for-8 passing, and also rushed for 42 yards and a touchdown, good enough to set a new career-high in rushing yards in the process.

The victory for North Cobb Christian keeps them at an undefeated 6-0. Jarrard and North Cobb Christian will challenge Rockmart at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.

A Season-Best Performance from Layten Myers Leads North Murray over Sonoraville

On Friday, North Murray got the W thanks in part to Layten Myers playing the best football he has all season. Myers rushed for 57 yards and three touchdowns, and also picked up 41 receiving yards.

For the year, Myers has run in 8 touchdowns while averaging 56.8 rushing yards per game. He's made a big improvement compared to last season: at this point last year, he was only averaging 20 rushing yards per game.

Waelyn Baliles Delivers Best Performance of Season

Sadly, Waelyn Baliles posting his best game of the season wasn't enough to lead Coahulla Creek over Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe on Friday. Baliles threw for 199 yards and a touchdown, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground.

Coahulla Creek is on a seven-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6. Baliles and Coahulla Creek will take on Murray County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.

Jacob Daley Makes It Two for North Murray

The second North Murray player making an appearance here is Jacob Daley, and for good reason. He rushed for ten yards.
