Volleyball Recap: North Gaston Comes Up Short on the Road Against Bessemer City

North Gaston kicked off their season on the road on Monday and hit a couple of potholes. They fell just short of the Bessemer City Yellow Jackets by a score of 3-2. The Wildcats were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Yellow Jackets apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

North Gaston took Bessemer City into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking four-point loss. The final score came out to 25-17, 25-11, 24-26, 23-25, 15-11.

Nadia Thomas paced North Gaston's offense, picking up 12 kills. Thomas got some help from Josephine Ortiz and her 34 assists. Ortiz was also solid from the service line: she led the team with seven aces.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. North Gaston will take on Cherryville at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Bessemer City, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Ashbrook at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
