Basketball Recap: Pope County Takes a Loss

Pope County was the 61-36 winner over Thompsonville when they last played one another back in January of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Pope County Pirates fell 54-47 to Thompsonville on Monday. The Pirates have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Pope County's defeat dropped their record down to 5-19. As for Thompsonville, their victory bumped their record up to 11-19.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pope County will take on Joppa-Maple Grove at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Joppa-Maple Grove knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past four games -- so hopefully Pope County likes a good challenge. As for Thompsonville, they will head out on the road to challenge Waltonville at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
