Baseball Recap: Whittier Christian Takes a Loss

Whittier Christian and Jurupa Hills squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but Whittier Christian had to settle for second. They fell 3-0 to the Spartans. The Heralds' defeat continues a trend for the squad, making it four in a row.

Whittier Christian got a good showing from Aiden Echavarria, who pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Echavarria is becoming a predictor of the Heralds' success: when he allows at most one hit the team is 2-1 (and 11-12 when he doesn't).

Whittier Christian's loss dropped their record down to 13-13. As for Jurupa Hills, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-5 record this season.

Whittier Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Jurupa Hills, they will square off against St. Anthony at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The Spartans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Saints have averaged an impressive 8.2 runs per game this season.
