Preview: Marionville Comets vs. Miller Cardinals
Marionville has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will square off against The Miller Cardinals at TBD on Friday. Marionville knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past eight contests -- so hopefully Miller likes a good challenge.
Marionville stacked a eighth blowout onto their ever-increasing hoard two weeks ago. They blew past Miller, posting a 57-0 victory at home. Given Marionville's advantage in MaxPreps' Missouri football rankings (they are ranked 88th, while Miller is ranked 279th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Braydon Bellah was the offensive standout of the contest as he picked up 47 receiving yards and two touchdowns, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Hugh Eaton was another key contributor, rushing for 67 yards and two touchdowns on only nine carries.
Marionville's win was their sixth straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 9-0. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 0-10 Willow Springs and 2-6 Stockton/Sheldon (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 38.6% over those games). As for Miller, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-7.
Everything came up roses for Marionville against Miller in their previous matchup two weeks ago as the team secured a 57-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Marionville since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
