Preview: Mountain Ridge Miners vs. Keyser Golden Tornado

The Mountain Ridge Miners will head out on the road to challenge the Keyser Golden Tornado at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Mountain Ridge is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.

Last Monday, Mountain Ridge strolled past Northern with points to spare, taking the game 65-47.

Mountain Ridge's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Cameron Breighner led the charge by scoring 17 points along with six rebounds. Breighner is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Owen McGeady, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds.

Meanwhile, Keyser pushed their score all the way to 61 two weeks ago, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 68-61 hit to the loss column at the hands of Hampshire.

The losing side was boosted by Patrick Liller, who dropped a double-double on 27 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Kameron Samples, who scored eight points.

The win got Mountain Ridge back to even at 6-6. As for Keyser, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-6.

Mountain Ridge didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Keyser in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, but they still walked away with a 68-62 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Mountain Ridge since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
