Football Game Preview: Crestview Cougars vs. Monroeville Eagles

The Crestview Cougars will square off against the Monroeville Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (Crestview 15, Monroeville 13.8) so any points scored will be well earned.

Crestview's offense might be in the hot seat on Friday considering what happened against Western Reserve on Friday. They were outmatched by the Roughriders and fell 34-0. The defensive woes were uncharacteristic for the Cougars, who until this contest were averaging 15 points allowed.

Meanwhile, Monroeville came tearing into Friday's game with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 41 points), and they left with even more momentum. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Big Red 55-0. The matchup was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Eagles had established a 49-point advantage.

Monroeville's victory bumped their record up to 6-2. As for Crestview, the loss snapped their winning streak at five games and leaves them with a 5-3 record.

Things could have been worse for Crestview, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 31-16 loss to Monroeville in their previous meeting back in September of 2024. Thankfully for the Cougars, Evan Benfer (who rushed for 198 yards and two touchdowns on only 14 carries) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
