Baseball Recap: Rocky Mountain Lutheran Continues Home Dominance on Friday

Rocky Mountain Lutheran made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Dawson School, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Eagles put the hurt on the Mustangs with a sharp 11-1 victory on Friday. Considering the Eagles have won four games by more than nine runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Blake Harris made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Rocky Mountain Lutheran is undefeated when Harris posts two or more runs, but 1-3 otherwise.

In other batting news, Rocky Mountain Lutheran got a big performance out of Gavin Borchardt, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Noah Lile, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Rocky Mountain Lutheran pushed their record up to 6-3 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Dawson School, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-6.

Looking ahead, Rocky Mountain Lutheran will face off against Evangel Christian Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Dawson School, they will square off against Bishop Machebeuf at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
