Basketball Recap: Wednesday's Victory Is Canisius' Eighth in Last Nine Outings

With a playoff win on the line, Canisius rose to the challenge on Wednesday. They walked away with a 65-53 win over the Bishop Timon-St. Jude Tigers. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent victory being a 76-57 win on February 7th.

It was another big night for Patrick Cullinan, who went 5-for-12 to rack up 21 points. Another player making a difference was Jack Cullinan, who posted nine points and six boards.

Canisius smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in ten consecutive matches.

Despite the loss, Bishop Timon-St. Jude still got an impressive performance from Nakyhi Harris, who went 10-for-17 en route to 26 points and eight rebounds. Harris is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 24 or more in each of the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Mike Gibson, who earned nine points and seven boards.

Canisius has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.7 points over those games. The defeat snapped Bishop Timon-St. Jude's winning streak at six games and leaves them with a 20-6 record.

Coming up, Canisius will challenge St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute will roll in looking for their 13th straight victory, something Canisius surely won't give up without a fight. Bishop Timon-St. Jude does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
