Basketball Game Preview: Laredo LBJ Wolves vs. Del Rio Rams

Laredo LBJ and Del Rio are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2018, but not for long. The Laredo LBJ Wolves will challenge the Del Rio Rams at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both have had a bumpy ride up to this point with eight consecutive losses for Laredo LBJ and three for Del Rio.

On Friday, Laredo LBJ was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 50-45 to United South. While losing is never fun, the Wolves can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 870th, while the Panthers are ranked 225th).

Meanwhile, Del Rio played a tough match on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They came up short against Eagle Pass, falling 64-44. The Rams were down 53-28 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Laredo LBJ's loss dropped their record down to 6-19. As for Del Rio, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-19.

Laredo LBJ was able to grind out a solid victory over Del Rio when the teams last played back in February of 2024, winning 51-38. The rematch might be a little tougher for Laredo LBJ since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
