Basketball Recap: Isaac Thompson's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Coal Ridge over Aspen

Coal Ridge lost against Aspen back in February and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Coal Ridge Titans fell 50-40 to the Aspen Skiers.

Coal Ridge's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Isaac Thompson, who posted four points. Another player making a difference was Alex Cornejo, who earned ten points.

Aspen's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Henry Hurd led the charge by going 5 of 8 on his way to 14 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Giovanni Seeman, who had 15 points and six rebounds.

Coal Ridge's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 1-2. As for Aspen, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-1.

Coal Ridge wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 60-48 win against DSST: Cedar on the 12th. As for Aspen, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 62-17 victory against Valley on the 12th.
