Softball Recap: Muhlenberg Drops Highest Score of Season Against Daniel Boone

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Muhlenberg). Everything went their way against the Daniel Boone Blazers on Wednesday as they made off with a 21-5 victory. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Muhls considering their two-run performance the contest before.

Madison Wentzel was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over 4.2 innings pitched. Wentzel was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kenleigh Brill, who scored three runs and stole three bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Ava Missimer was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-5.

Muhlenberg was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .406. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .320 or higher in five consecutive matchups.

Muhlenberg is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 3-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.5 runs over those games. As for Daniel Boone, their defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 1-9.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Muhlenberg will take on Exeter Township at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Daniel Boone, they will square off against Octorara Area at 4:15 p.m. on Friday.
