Soccer Game Preview: New Hampstead vs. Wayne County

New Hampstead hasn't had much luck against Wayne County recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Phoenix will look to defend their home pitch against the Yellow Jackets at 7:00 p.m. New Hampstead's last three matches have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

New Hampstead fought the good fight in their overtime contest against Perry on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Panthers by a score of 3-2. That's two games in a row now that New Hampstead have lost by just one goal.

Meanwhile, Wayne County kept a clean sheet against Benedictine on Thursday. They won by a goal and slipped past the Cadets 1-0. Jonathan Tlacuatl had the honor of scoring the game-winner for Wayne County.

The win got Wayne County back to even at 3-3. As for New Hampstead, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 3-3.

New Hampstead suffered a grim 6-0 defeat to Wayne County in their previous meeting back in March of 2025. Can the Phoenix avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
