Basketball Recap: Sherrard Comes Up Short

After flying high against Alleman on Saturday, Sherrard came back down to earth. The Tigers fell 57-52 to the Peoria Notre Dame Irish on Monday. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Tigers came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 129th, while the Irish are ranked 421st).

Sherrard's loss dropped their record down to 7-4. As for Peoria Notre Dame, they moved to 3-6 with that win, which also ended their six-game losing streak.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Sherrard will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Mercer County at 7:00 p.m. on January 16, 2026. As for Peoria Notre Dame, they will venture away from home to take on Limestone at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday.
