Preview: Hillcrest Knights vs. Preston Indians
Hillcrest is on a 15-game streak of home wins, while Preston is on a six-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Hillcrest Knights will take on the Preston Indians at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Hillcrest has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 433 points over their last six matchups.
Hillcrest posted their biggest win since December 1, 2023 on Saturday. They put the hurt on Shelley with a sharp 76-54 victory. Given Hillcrest's advantage in MaxPreps' Idaho basketball rankings (they are ranked 13th, while Shelley is ranked 83rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Hillcrest's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ike Sutton led the charge by scoring 19 points along with six assists. Sutton hasn't dropped below 15points for six straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Talan Taylor, who scored 18 points.
Meanwhile, it may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Preston ultimately got the result they hoped for on Saturday. They managed a 70-66 win over Blackfoot. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Hillcrest has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-6 record this season. As for Preston, their victory bumped their record up to 14-3.
Hillcrest came out on top in a nail-biter against Preston when the teams last played back in November of 2023, sneaking past 56-53. Does Hillcrest have another victory up their sleeve, or will Preston turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
