Basketball Game Preview: St. Petersburg Green Devils vs. Mater Lakes Academy Bears

The St. Petersburg Green Devils are taking a road trip to face off against the Mater Lakes Academy Bears at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

St. Petersburg not only won on Saturday, but they posted their biggest win since January 15th (when they won 81-41). They blew past Carrollwood Day 79-59. The Green Devils pushed the score to 56-35 by the end of the third, a deficit the Patriots cut but never quite recovered from.

Nijaun Harris and Emir Gainer were among the main playmakers for St. Petersburg as the former shot 48% from the field en route to 23 points along with eight boards and six assists and the latter posted 21 points and seven assists. That's the most assists Harris has posted since back in November of 2024. Another player making a difference was Bryan Hollenberg, who earned eight points.

Meanwhile, Mater Lakes Academy gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They breezed past Mater Bay Academy to the tune of 97-37.
