Baseball Recap: Shawano Community Gets the Win

Shawano Community came out on top against New London on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run fifth inning. The Hawks took their matchup against the Bulldogs 6-2. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 10-8 on Monday.

Pete Bruette was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

In other pitching news, Grant Keszo tossed a big game, tossing six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits.

Bruette wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Parker Beyer, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI.

The victory made it two in a row for Shawano Community and bumps their season record up to 5-2. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for New London, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-5.

Looking ahead, Shawano Community will be playing at home against Notre Dame Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for New London, they will head out to square off against Xavier at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
