Basketball Game Preview: Denver North Vikings vs. Thomas Jefferson Spartans

The Denver North Vikings will challenge the Thomas Jefferson Spartans at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

Last Wednesday, Denver North lost to George Washington at home by a 56-39 margin. The Vikings were down 47-26 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Adriana Ortiz put forth a good effort for the losing side as she posted ten points in addition to seven rebounds and five assists. Another player making a difference was Grace Julianelle, who scored six points.

Meanwhile, Thomas Jefferson was just a bucket shy of victory on Thursday and fell 38-37 to Aurora Central. The Spartans were up 26-10 in the second quarter but couldn't hold on to the lead.

Denver North will have to contain Leyna McClinon as she made an impact in Thomas Jefferson's last game. She dropped a double-double with 12 points and 12 boards. McClinon has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Anisa Adrovic was another key player, putting up ten points.

Denver North's record is now 10-8. As for Thomas Jefferson, their record is now 7-12.

Denver North strolled past Thomas Jefferson when the teams last played back in January by a score of 58-42. The rematch might be a little tougher for Denver North since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
