Baseball Recap: Delta Starts Season with Win Against Manitou Springs

Delta had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They were the clear victors by an 18-2 margin over the Manitou Springs Mustangs on Saturday.

The team relied heavily on Joe Black, who scored four runs while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Landen Horn, who scored three runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-4.

Delta always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .643. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Manitou Springs only posted an OBP of .400.

Manitou Springs' defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Coincidentally, Delta and Manitou Springs will both be playing Resurrection Christian the next time they take the field. Delta will head out to face Resurrection Christian at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, while Manitou Springs will play them later in the day, at 3:00 p.m.
