Baseball Game Preview: Bentworth Bearcats vs. Burgettstown Blue Devils

For the second straight game, Bentworth will face off against Burgettstown. The Bearcats will head out to square off against the Blue Devils at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Bentworth is coming into the matchup on a five-game losing streak.

On Monday, Bentworth came up short against Burgettstown and fell 4-1.

For Burgettstown's part, Matthew Bredel made a splash while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over seven innings pitched. Bredel also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Burgettstown is 5-2 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 0-4 otherwise. Bredel was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

In other batting news, Blake Neal was excellent, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases and two RBI. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Mason Tichenor also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Burgettstown's record is now 5-6. As for Bentworth, their loss dropped their record down to 3-9.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Bentworth has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.9 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Burgettstown struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 8.5 strikeouts.
