Basketball Recap: Paxton Skates Past Creek Valley with Ease

You can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Paxton's strategy against Creek Valley on Thursday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Paxton Tigers blew the Creek Valley Storm out of the water with a 63-33 final score. The Tigers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matches by 23 points or more this season.

Paxton's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tanner Hebblethwaite, who posted seven points along with eight rebounds and six assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Maddex Mcconnell, who went 6 for 11 on his way to 12 points.

Mason Timm and Lane Brenneman certainly did their best on Thursday to avoid the loss. Timm earned seven points in addition to 15 boards and six blocks, while Brenneman dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds. What's more, Brenneman also racked up two blocks, the most he's had since back in December of 2023.

Paxton pushed their record up to 8-3 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.5 points per game. As for Creek Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-5.

Paxton didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 56-49 loss against Wallace on the 17th. As for Creek Valley, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Garden County at 7:00 p.m. on January 31st.
