Basketball Recap: Mason Bonner and Ben Medina Secure Win for Mullen

There's no place like home for Mullen, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Saturday. They came out on top against the Columbine Rebels by a score of 66-56 on Tuesday. That's more bragging rights for the Mustangs, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Leading Mullen to victory were Ben Medina and Mason Bonner. Medina went 10 of 20 en route to 30 points and five steals, while Bonner dropped a double-double on 14 points and 18 rebounds. With that strong performance, Medina is now averaging an impressive 2.2 steals per game. Another player making a difference was Kevin Lewis, who posted ten points in addition to five assists and three steals.

When it comes to explaining why Columbine lost, don't look at Cash Boykin. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 25 points and ten boards. Boykin has been hot, having posted 16 or more points the last six times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Dyson Boykin, who put up 11 points and three steals.

Mullen now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Columbine, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Mullen will host Westminster at 8:30 p.m. on Thursday. Mullen is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 59.8 points per game this season. As for Columbine, they will venture away from home to challenge Dakota Ridge at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
