Softball Recap: West Henderson Makes It Nine in a Row at Home

West Henderson had won nine straight at home, but on Thursday they bumped their record up to 17-1 to make it ten. They came out on top against the Pisgah Bears by a score of 10-7. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 4-2 back in March.

Makena Henderson was a standout: she fired off two home runs and three RBI while going 2-for-3. That's the most home runs she has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Lilyan Barrett, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs.

They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: West Henderson lost a few balls and finished the game with four home runs. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pisgah only launched one home run.

As for Pisgah, they moved to 12-4 with that defeat, which also ended their nine-game winning streak. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for they, who until this contest were averaging 3.31 runs allowed.

On Pisgah's side, Sadie Messer was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she struck out eight batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off four hits (and only one walk). Messer has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Rylee Campbell was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Addie Foust, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI.

West Henderson wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 3-2 loss against Franklin on the 29th. As for Pisgah, they have also already played their next match, an 11-1 win against Tuscola on the 25th.
