Softball Game Preview: Sandusky Blue Streaks vs. Clyde Fliers

Sandusky hasn't had much luck against Clyde recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Blue Streaks will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on the Fliers at 4:45 p.m. Clyde took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Sandusky, who comes in off a win.

Having struggled with three defeats in a row, Sandusky turned things around against St. Mary Central Catholic on Saturday. They put the hurt on the Panthers with a sharp 8-1 victory.

Kaylee Summers spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Akiyla Jones, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. That home run was her first of the season. Alidra Johnson was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

Meanwhile, Clyde has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging 3.83 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Saturday. They came up short against Madison Comprehensive, falling 15-6. The loss continues a trend for the Fliers in their meetings with the Rams: they've now lost five in a row.

Sandusky's win bumped their record up to 4-5. As for Clyde, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-4.

Sandusky might still be hurting after the 20-3 loss they got from Clyde in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Blue Streaks avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
