Baseball Recap: Valley Vista Comes Up Short

Valley Vista started off well but failed to capitalize on an early lead against Highland. They came up short against the Hawks on Friday, falling 13-5. That's two games in a row now that the Monsoon have lost by exactly eight runs.

Valley Vista got a good showing from Troy Morales, who tossed 3.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. That's the fewest earned runs Morales has allowed since back in March of 2024.

On the hitting side, Diego Munoz was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Adrian Montoya, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

Valley Vista now has a losing record of 6-7. As for Highland, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 9-6.

Valley Vista wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 12-2 loss against Apollo on the 1st. As for Highland, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 5-4 defeat against Queen Creek on the 1st.
