While Baker's win against Bryant wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Hornets sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 8-7 victory over the Hurricanes on Monday. The Hornets haven't had any issues with the Hurricanes recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive win against them.

MADISON SMITH tossed a big game, tossing five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on KAYLEE BODDIE, who went 2-for-5 with three RBI and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. MADALYN STUART was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

Baker's victory bumped their record up to 30-17-2. As for Bryant, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last ten contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 16-24-1 record this season.

Baker didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 4-1 win against Auburn on the 12th. Bryant does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
