Baseball Recap: Maranatha Christian Takes a Loss

Maranatha Christian fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against La Jolla Country Day on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Torreys by a score of 6-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Eagles have suffered against the Torreys since April 26, 2023.

Nolan Espinosa made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Shane Piester, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base.

This is the second loss in a row for Maranatha Christian and nudges their season record down to 6-20. As for La Jolla Country Day, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-10 record this season.

While Maranatha Christian had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
