Softball Recap: Charlotte Latin's Win on Wednesday Extends Winning Streak to Five

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Charlotte Latin had no problem doing just that on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over the Cannon Cougars. The result was nothing new for the Hawks, who have now won 14 contests by eight runs or more so far this season.

The team relied heavily on Lila McConnell, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Irie King, who went 1-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Charlotte Latin always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .576. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cannon only posted an OBP of .333.

The win (which was Charlotte Latin's fifth in a row) raised their record to 18-4. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. As for Cannon, their loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 14-8-1.

Charlotte Latin wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 3-2 defeat against Charlotte Christian on the 16th. Cannon does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
