The Springfield Wildcats are taking a road trip to face off against the Fairmont Firebirds at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Springfield will be strutting in after a victory while Fairmont will be coming in after a defeat.

Springfield came out on top against Edgewood on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run sixth inning. The Wildcats came out on top against the Cougars by a score of 5-4 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). The win was a breath of fresh air for the Wildcats as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

Emily Brooks was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. What's more, she posted two strikeouts, the most she's had since back in May of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, Brianna Jones was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. That stolen base was her first of the season.

Meanwhile, Fairmont didn't have quite enough to beat Lebanon on Thursday and fell 6-4.

Amy Osman was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Carlee Netherton, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Springfield's record now sits at 7-15. As for Fairmont, their loss dropped their record down to 13-8.
