Softball Recap: Seymour Eagles vs. West Rebels

Seymour had lost three straight on the road, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 6-10 to make it four. They took a 7-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the West Rebels. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Rebels this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 15-4 last Monday.

Landry Terry was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-4 with one home run and four RBI.

As for West, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.8 runs over those games.

On West's side, Brooke Weaver made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over 5.2 innings pitched. Weaver was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Brooklyn Burnett was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. That double was her first of the season. Ava Humphreys was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Seymour will venture away from home to square off against Bearden at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for West, they will head out to face off against Christian Academy of Knoxville at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
