Baseball Recap: Galesburg's Win Ends Four-Game Losing Streak on the Road

Galesburg came out on top against Rock Island on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run first inning. The Silver Streaks walked away with a 7-3 victory over the Rocks. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Silver Streaks also won the last time the pair played back in May of 2024.

Caden Riley tossed a big game, striking out seven batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted over his last four games.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jameson Dickerson, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Galesburg's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 6-1 (and 7-16 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Tyree Taylor, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

Galesburg's win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 13-17. As for Rock Island, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-14.

Galesburg will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Rocks: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
