Softball Recap: San Marcos Find Success

San Marcos lost to Great Oak back in March of 2017, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Monday. The Knights sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-5 win over the Wolfpack.

The team relied heavily on Emily Lew, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and one RBI. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in April of 2024. Addie Taufa was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one stolen base.

San Marcos hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are 8-2 when they post two or more strikeouts.

San Marcos' victory bumped their record up to 12-9. As for Great Oak, the loss snapped their winning streak at five games and leaves them with a 16-8-1 record.

Looking ahead, San Marcos will host Mission Hills at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Grizzlies' pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so the Knights' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Great Oak, they will venture away from home to take on Temecula Valley at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Golden Bears have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.48 runs per game on average), something the Wolfpack will no doubt try to take advantage of.
