Basketball Game Preview: Gilmer Buckeyes vs. Cumberland Academy Knights

The Gilmer Buckeyes will face off against the Cumberland Academy Knights at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.

Gilmer will head into Tuesday's game out to bounce back: they won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Tuesday. They lost 68-46 to Chapel Hill. The loss continues a trend for the Buckeyes in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now lost seven in a row.

Meanwhile, Cumberland Academy had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They strolled past Carthage with points to spare on Tuesday, taking the game 67-53.

Cumberland Academy's victory bumped their record up to 7-13. As for Gilmer, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-11.

Gilmer beat Cumberland Academy 42-34 when the teams last played back in February of 2020. Will Gilmer repeat their success, or does Cumberland Academy have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
