Baseball Game Preview: King Jaguars vs. ACERO Garcia Patriots

King hasn't had much luck against ACERO Garcia recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Jaguars will head out on the road to face off against the Patriots at 2:00 p.m.

King came up short against Agricultural Science on Thursday, falling 10-1. The Jaguars have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

King saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sam Roma, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

Meanwhile, ACERO Garcia hadn't done well against Juarez recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Patriots put the hurt on the Eagles with a sharp 20-5 victory.

Zachary Salinas was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over six innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off only two hits. Salinas was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. Salinas is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Isaac Mota, who went 3-for-5 with four runs, four RBI, and one triple. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. Eric Perez was another key player, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

ACERO Garcia always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .556. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .500 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.

ACERO Garcia now has a winning record of 2-1. As for King, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

King suffered a grim 10-0 defeat to ACERO Garcia in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Jaguars avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
